Airos, book release, Finding Home Series, monthly update

Well, January had definitely been an interesting month. Not a whole lot had happened because I’ve been housebound due to surgery, but for about the last week and a half I’ve been doing good enough that I’ve FINALLY been able to get some writing done.

tumblr_m8cmdjLxbo1rdn657o1_400Oh, it’s absolute heaven to finally have the inspiration to write again. I’ve been working on both book 4 and 5 of my Finding Home Series. I’ve been working on a werewolf/shape shifter novel called Forbidden Mate. And I’ve also been working on a futuristic novel called Love Me As I Am. I’m having a blast writing this one! Heck, I’m having a blast writing all of them, lol! I’m just happy to be WRITING!!!!! Gawd, I really hate writers block – especially when it sticks around for months at a time. Grrrr.

That’s in the past now, and my happy little fingers are flying over my keyboard and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. 🙂

With that being said, I’m also happy to say that I’ve finally gotten time to actually be involved in the literary world again. So I’m sending out a reminder that I’m happy to host guest authors on Mondays and Thursdays. You can view the available schedule and other info on my Guest Author Sign-Up Schedule page.

On another note, Airos: Finding Home Series book 3 went to print in January – woohoo! Here are a few places you can pick it up at:

Totally Bound * Amazon * Amazon UK * Barnes & Noble

airos_001

And lastly, on a more personal note, my shoulder surgery went without a hitch. I’m recovering at a good speed and the pain is minimal. I think I’m more irritated that I haven’t gotten a decent nights sleep in the last month. Oh well, all in good time, I guess.

Well, that’s all this time! *short, sweet, and to the point!*

Ta ta for now. 😀

Airos, Finding Home Series, monthly update, Morvea

December has come and gone and holy cow did it pass quickly! Not a whole lot has happened, so this months update will be short.

As usual, I’ll start with some awesome reviews!

Sensual ReadsThe lovely Elise, from Sensual Reads, gave me the pleasure of reviewing Morvea and graciously gave it a 4.5 out of 5 Stars!

Here’s a little bit of what she had to say.

Morvea thumbnail“Morvea is part of the Finding Home series and it just keeps getting better.  Wesley and Remus are present as are the others from the first book.  Morvea moves the plot in a different direction and we must hope the search will continue for the head of the dragons.  Eli turned out to have a few surprises up his sleeve, much to the dismay of Keddrick.  It did make for exciting reading.  Twists and turns, excitement and surprises, Morvea has it all.  Don’t miss Morvea by Jennifer Wright, the second Finding Home story.”

mmgoodbookreviews_logoAlso, Airos was reviewed by the wonderful Pixie, a reviewer for MM Good Book Reviews, on Goodreads. She gave Airos a shining 4 out of 5 Hearts!

Airos thumbnailHere’s a little of what she had to say.

“I recommend this to those who love paranormal worlds, battling factions, a brilliant developing storyline, great characters, twists, finding love in difficult circumstances and much more to come in the future.”

Last month I had mentioned that my life was beyond busy and that my writing time was basically nonexistent – well, that hasn’t changed. I don’t even want to go back and try to see what my completed word count for the month was…I’d be too disappointed with myself.

I also mentioned that I was going to be having surgery on my shoulder, well, if life could throw more boulders in my path…then it does – which in doing so delayed my surgery. Ha! What a bitch this is! Oh well, nothing to do about it now. So, the surgery will now – and for sure this time – be on January 13th. I’m hoping that after a week or two I’ll be able to comfortably type away on my computer and get friggin’ book four of my Finding Home series finished. I’ll have a lot a free time seeing as I’ll be out for 6 weeks. But, free time or not, I seem to be suffering from MAJOR writer’s block, and can only hope that’ll pass before my free time begins – because I’m getting really tired of not being able to write. This writers block is making me miserable….among other things, lol! Oh, what a rocky road my life is. One day I dream of being able to write full time again. *happy sigh while day-dreaming*

Hopefully, by next months update, I’ll have wonderful news and nothing but happy shit to talk about.

Until then, ta ta for now. 😀

Monthly Update – November

Airos, book release, Finding Home Series, monthly update

Another month has passed, and boy was it a hard one.

Airos coverLet’s start with general release news.

I’m ecstatic to announce that Airos: Finding Home Series book 3 is available at all the major book distributors. So aside from buying it at Totally Bound, Airos is also now available at Amazon, Amazon UK, and ARe and many, many more!

ARe Best seller IconI’m also deliriously overjoyed to announce that Airos made ARe’s Best Sellers List!!!! How effing amazing is that! Woohoo!

mmgoodbookreviews_logoTo add to my excitement, the wonderful Pixie from MM Good Book Reviews gave Airos a fantastic 4 Hearts review!

Here’s a little bit of what she had to say.

“I really love the way this series is developing and the twists we are treated to, although Zane and Bo’s relationship came as a surprise, because I was secretly hoping that Zane would get together with Larken, it adds a nice bit of angst and heartache. The storyline gives us some surprises with all the previous couples getting into the mix and contributing, they never overpower though, being blended in well so we never forget that even with everything that is happening it is still Zane and Bo’s story. It is far from an easy relationship, not only because Bo is a dragon and Zane is a vampire but also because of the new developments and the existing problems with Gravaick.”

“I recommend this to those who love paranormal worlds, battling factions, a brilliant developing storyline, great characters, twists, finding love in difficult circumstances and much more to come in the future.”

Click HERE for the full review on Goodreads.

And now for the bad news. If you remember from last month’s update I had said that it was my goal to finish the 4th book in the Finding Home Series. Well, all hell seemed to break loose right after I posted it. Not only was I not able to finish it, but I don’t think I’ve ever gone that long with writing so little. If something in my life could pop up to intervene with my writing time…then it did. I went from about 12 hours a week to write to none! Every week I’ve picked up extra shifts at work. Every week I’ve had a personal engagement that I had to go to. And to top it off, all of the rest of what little bit of time I had went to physical therapy for my shoulder. Back in August I hurt my shoulder at work – it has been a roller-coaster ride with doctor appointments and LOTS OF PAIN. And since I’m not getting any better with the PT, we are now moving on to surgery. Yippy! *note the sarcasm :P* So I’ll be out of the loop for a little while – probably won’t hear much from me, but I’ll try to get back in the swing of things hopefully not too long after my surgery.

Wish me luck!

Ta ta for now. 😀

Monthly Update – October

Airos, book release, excerpt, Finding Home Series, monthly update

Well, October had its pluses and minuses. I had an exciting new release, a fabulous review, and a not so fulfilling word count goal.

Let’s start with the release.

I’m ecstatic to announce that Airos: Finding Home Series book 3 was released at Totally Bound on October 18th! Here’s the blurb and a tantalizing excerpt. 😉

Airos coverBook blurb

Zane has everything in his life under control and in order, but can he keep it that way when a young dragon is thrown into his life?

Zane was meant to be a warrior—end of story. Though he may not have had the most pleasant life living at the coven, he still loved being there. But the steadiness of his world came to a halt all within one day’s events. A man he never saw coming has pushed the boundaries of what little normalcy he has, and learning of a secret love is just confusing him even more. Zane has never felt more torn on what he should be feeling…and for whom. Though, if he assumed having two men plaguing his every waking thought was hard enough, learning of the danger his mother is in nearly has his head spinning off into another dimension.

The leader of the Dráguns is threatening to take everything away from him, his best friend is slipping further and further away from him, and a little dragon is managing to get under his skin in more ways than one. Sorting out what he has to do, what he wants, and what’s right for him will be the biggest challenge he’s ever been faced with. Will he follow his heart or will he take the easy path…or is the easy path the right path to begin with?

Excerpt

Larken watched the tiny snowflake drift down from the sky. He reached out and let it fall into his hand, melting the moment it touched his skin.

If it were only that easy, to simply melt away and exist no more.

“Larken?”

Larken stilled at the sound of Zane’s voice.

“There you are. What are you doing out here? It’s fucking freezing.” Zane joined him on the balcony but didn’t come up to stand next to him, instead leaning against the ledge a few feet away. “I, uh… I was wondering if we could talk.”

Larken remained silent—he had nothing to say. And even if he did, he didn’t think he’d be capable of forming the words and speaking them out loud.

“All right, I’ll talk—you listen. Can we go inside, though? It’s colder than hell out here.”

Larken made no move to go inside, he just stared at the woods and at the tiny snowflakes that were slowly gathering on the leaves of the trees.

“All right, I guess we’ll stay out here then.” There was a moment of silence and Larken could hear Zane shuffling next to him. “I imagine today came as quite a surprise for you. Even though I hated to do so, that side of my life had to remain a secret. I did it for my mother.”

His half-breed side, that’s what he came to talk about? Of course, I should have known…why else would he be here.

“You have to know, though, that keeping it from you hurt the most.”

Not nearly as much as I’m hurting now.

“There were so many times that I wanted to tell you, to share that side of my life with you.”

Only a side? But I want all of it. I would have given anything to have it…to have you.

“I hate that you had to find out this way. But I just couldn’t… Bo had been hurt, and I had to go find him.”

Larken closed his eyes as a knot formed in his chest, stealing his breath away. The dragon. Zane exposed himself for Bo. His secret was important enough to go a century and a half without telling anyone…and he gave it up for the dragon.

When Larken had left the gathering room the hurt inside him had clutched at his soul and had been slowly sucking the life out of him. The ache had consumed him and spread throughout his body, attacking every nerve and every emotion—the last bit of it tearing at his heart just then, as the man he loved spoke of another.

“Do you have nothing to say?” Zane asked, concern lacing his words.

Larken let the silence linger between them, trying to figure out in his mind how everything had gone so wrong. “I don’t care that you’re a half-breed,” he finally replied. It was true, he didn’t care, and it was the least of his concerns. He looked over to Zane. So many times he’d gazed into those sapphire eyes, praying that someday his friend would look at him in the same way. “Yeah, I’m a little mad that you didn’t tell me before, but it doesn’t matter.”

“Then why do you seem so upset?”

Here’s your chance, he’s asking you up front, do not cower away this time.

Larken wanted to curse at the voice inside his head. He had never cowered away before—he just knew that he’d needed to give Zane time to come around on his own.

Bullshit! The time for excuses is over—you and him are over. You let him slip away. You were weak—too scared that he’d reject you, and look where it’s gotten you.

Larken mentally shook his head, shaking away the harsh words. He wanted to argue back, deny everything, but ultimately he knew the voice was right. This was his last chance to tell Zane how he felt, but there were no words to even begin to describe his love for him.

He would just have to show him instead.

Closing the distance between them, Larken framed Zane’s face with his hands and crushed their mouths together. He put all the love he had into the kiss, handing over every ounce of his heart. He wanted to devour every inch of Zane’s mouth, but he held back, keeping the kiss passionate—not possessive. Finally, he pulled back and rested their foreheads together.

Larken brushed his thumbs across Zane’s cheeks. “Tell me you felt something,” he whispered, then placed a chaste kiss on Zane’s lips. “Tell me you felt something for me.”

Buy and read it today at Totally Bound!

The Novel Approach buttonTo add to my excitement, the lovely Jackie from The Novel Approach Reviews gave Airos a fantastic 5 Star review!

Here’s a little bit of what she had to say.

“If you are a fan of the series, you have been waiting for this book for a long time, and I believe it was well worth the wait. As much as I was rooting for Zane and Larken in the beginning, I found myself equally rooting for Zane and Boek. I think I would have been happy with either outcome, but the final choice was a good one in my opinion.

Jennifer Wright had me on the edge of my seat and I didn’t relax until I read the final word. I highly recommend this book, but I will warn you, if you don’t read the first two books, a lot of this book won’t make much sense. I love this series and the next books have been set up wonderfully, and I cannot wait to see who is next in line.”

Click HERE for the full review.

And lastly, I’ve yet again disappointed myself by not meeting my 15k word count goal for the month. It’s so frustrating seeing the numbers I want not being met, but things have been incredibly busy and exhausting on the personal side of my life – yet I still don’t like having excuses for not meeting my goal. Oh well, there’s not a lot I can do about it now, I only wrote 8,552 of the 15k that I wanted.

But I’ve set a new and even bigger goal for November. I know what you’re thinking, I can’t even reach the easier one I set, why make it more difficult? Well, I’ve been inspired by NaNo. I know there’s no way I’d be able to accomplish what the authors participating in NaNo are doing (major props to y’all!), but instead of writing a whole new book, they have inspired me to pass up the 15k word goal and go straight for finishing Athis Dey: Finding Home Series book 4. FYI, I’m at 37,802 words out of an estimated 60,000 words (63% complete).

So, here’s a *fingers crossed* to me!

Wish me luck!

Ta ta for now. 😀

Monthly Update – September

monthly update

Ah, so September was definitely an UP for me. Got lots of things done and one major milestone crossed only just yesterday.

I TURNED 30!!!!

Holy shit, I should feel old. Yeeeeeeeah, but I don’t. I think it’s ingrained into our heads at an early age that 30 is somehow old. I just love the looks I get from the younger people at my work when they find out my age. The raised eyebrow and the somewhat look of dread of ‘OMG, is she gonna break a hip?’, is really getting on my nerves. Well, let me just say – screw you, yungin’s, I still feel 25. Ha! I’m not going to let this upcoming decade of my life change anything.

Sure, turning 30 was a little scary, but I am Woman, hear me cry….I mean ROAR!

*clears throat*

Okay, now that I’ve got that jittery bit out of the way, how’s ’bout I get on to the authory stuff. 🙂

The Review

Well, only one review this month, but it’s from a place that I’ve been dying to have review my work.

Drum-roll please……….The Romance Reviews! Yay! And holy crap, they gave Pavarus 4 out of 5 Stars! Woohoo!

The Romance Reviews

Here’s a little bit of what Laurie had to say (read full review HERE)

“The world building done by Jennifer Wright was a flawless blending of middle ages earth and the modern world we live in, set in another dimension.”

“The well-rounded secondary characters of Vampires, Witches and Dragons enrich this story. The writing is easy to read, the storyline flows along, pulling me deeper into their world. This was a fun fantasy to read.”

On another note, I’ve made great headway with the forth book of my Finding Home series, Athis Dey. I won’t really get into details too much because I don’t want to give away info from book 3, Arios (which comes out for pre-order at 15% off this Friday at Total-E-Bound).

I will say, though, that there’s another new character coming in, Khale. He’s a high-society, elegant gentleman that is totally standing out like a sore thumb at the warrior coven – but holy crap, I am having a blast writing him.  I think I’ve fallen in love with Khale…it’s a shame he’s taken…but it’s who he’s with that’ll get your minds twisting. Khale has given into his forbidden desires with…..yeah, I can’t tell you that either. You’ll just have to read it to find out. 😛

And last, but not least, I end this months update on a wonderful note. I finally succeeded in reaching my monthly word count goal! Yay!

With the limited time I have, I decided to go with an easier (more like realistic for me) word count goal. I’d decided to go with 15,000 words and, happy day, I not only hit that goal, but surpassed it at a grand total of 16,668 words. *throws confetti* For me, that’s awesome. I wish I could be like other authors and say, “Oh, I wrote 4k words today”, but I can’t. I haven’t the slightest idea how the hell they can write that much. Maybe things just flow that much more smoothly for them. But for me, it takes me forever. I think one part is that I try to make it as perfect as I cant he first time, so I do a lot of pausing to think out what little detail will come next. I almost annoy myself when hours have passed by and I finally finished whatever scene I was writing, only to find out that I only wrote like 1,500 words. WTF! How does 1,500 words take me three hours!

Ah, but who cares. I may not be able to push out the big numbers, but the fact that I reached my goal and that I’m getting some great writing done is reward enough for me! I love seeing my stories grow…no matter how long it takes me. 😉

Well, that’s all this time.

Ta ta for now. 😀
