Sunday Snog – Morvea

Finding Home Series, Morvea, Sunday Snog

It’s Sunday again!  This is quickly becoming one of my favorite days of the week; rest and relaxation and sitting back to read a bunch of smut… couldn’t ask for anything better!

Below is a little tease of one of my favorite kissing scenes from Morvea: Finding Home Series #2.  I just  recently handed this manuscript  in to Total-E-Bound, so unfortunately I don’t have a cover to add to today’s snog.  Instead, I decided to just throw in a random picture of two hot guys – it helps the mood 😉

As always, if you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to hop on over to Victoria’s website for more Sunday Snog.

Anyway, enjoy!

Eli circled around the table and came to a stop in front of him, leaving little space between them.  He watched the muscle in Keddrick’s jaw tick, and couldn’t help but enjoy knowing that it was him that was making the vampire breathe a little heavier.  Keddrick stood stiff as a board when Eli leaned in just a little closer.  He needed to be closer.  He needed to touch and feel and taste.  The ache in his chest was either going to make him crumble or float away.

Memories of their frist kiss flashed in his mind and he was lost.

Eli wrapped his arms around Keddrick’s neck and crushed their mouths together.  Heat flooded him immediately.  His heart pounded in his chest as every nerve in his body came alive.  For a brief moment Keddrick stood stock still, but when the vampire’s arms wound around him and held him tight, he wanted to cry.  Keddrick returned the kiss with a fervor that Eli had never experienced before.  It was as if the vampire owned him… possessed him.

He happily welcomed Keddrick’s tongue into his mouth.  A moan echoed throughout the room.  Who it belonged to, he didn’t know and didn’t care.  All he cared about was tasting Keddrick; touching him, feeling that strong chest against his own.  Eli’s hands dug into his long, black hair, while Keddrick’s own hands were anywhere and everywhere.

Keddrick turned them and pushed him up against the side of a shelf, his right leg wedged between Eli’s thighs.  Eli pushed his pelvis forward, moaning when their erections grinded together.  Keddrick’s hands clamped down on Eli’s hips, holding the two of them harder together.  The pressure was almost too much.  He was so damn turned on, that in another minute he’d be coming.  The feel of Keddrick’s thick cock against his sent a shiver down his spine.

Eli let his hands wander over the vampire’s chest and around to his back, relishing in the feel of hard muscles beneath his fingertips.  Hands sliding down further, Eli moaned when he grasped Keddrick’s ass and squeezed.  They grinded against each other, the pace quickening and becoming frantic.  His hands wandered back up, unable to get enough.  The feel of every dip and curve of his powerful body had Eli whimpering.

I’ve waited so long for this.

Keddrick’s mouth devoured his, swallowing the on-stream of moans Eli couldn’t keep in.  Their breaths were heavy and hard, both of them seeming to never get enough air.  Eli closed his eyes and tilted his head to deepen the kiss, and was blessed with a low groan from Keddrick.  That sparked a new fire in him and Eli pushed his cock against Keddrick’s with more abandon, desperate for a release.

So close, so close.

The empty air before him came as such a surprise, he actually stumbled.  Eyes snapping open, he stared in disbelief at Keddrick, who was now several feet away.  The vampire’s eyes were wide and written with worry.

He opened his mouth to ask what the hell, but Keddrick quickly said, “I’m sorry, Eli.”  He licked his lips and swallowed hard, the muscle in his jaw ticking again.  Keddrick’s breath panted just as hard as his, his chest rising and falling deeply.  The expression on his face changed ever so slightly.  His mouth opened and closed, like he was desperately trying to think of something to say.  But all he said was, “I’m sorry,” again.

Then Eli was all alone in the room, Keddrick was nowhere in sight.

fun read, that's cute

This is my kitty, Chocolate (he’s brown, what better name could we think of?).  I’ve always said he’s half Havana Brown Cat and half bulldog.  Yes, he really is as fat as his picture (how many cats out there actually have buns?), and yes, his head is really small.  If any of you have every seen the movie Tommy Boy, the little song Tommy sings when he puts on his buddy’s suit jacket – ‘fat man in a little coat’ – comes to mind.  Well, I like to sing ‘fat cat with a little head’.  I’m probably the only one laughing at this, but that’s okay, I still wanted to share it. (I’m okay with being a dork) 🙂

Operation   Danny… that’s all bartender and recent college graduate, Julian   Hallowell has had on his mind the past year.  Julian may have no idea   what he wants to do with his life, but he definitely knows he‘s in love   with the boy next door: The one in next room to be exact, his roommate   Danny Wallace.

Danny owns a used text book store just off campus and while   Julian has done his level best to make Danny fall for him, all his hard   work appears to have been in vain.  Danny doesn’t seem to view Julian as   anything other than that…a roommate and friend.  So when new guy in   town Andy Baker asks him out on a date, Julian can’t seem to think of a   good reason to say no.

Julian has already instituted a Reverse Operation Danny plan,   which he’s positive will purge all thoughts of love and lust for his   roomie out of his head.  He’s ready to move on and start looking for his   next Mr. Right, and Andy just might fit the bill.

Review

I would like to start off by saying that there are very few books out there that can actually make me laugh out loud when I read them, and As You Are had me laughing quite a few times.  The way Ethan Day incorporates humor into his writing is brilliant; it comes across so natural.

Anyway, on to the review.  The story takes place in a first person point of view and I really enjoyed being inside Julian’s head.  If you like a quirky, funny, romantic, easily… uh, lustful ;), says the first thing that pops into his head kind of guy, then you’ll love Julian.  Julian’s passion to find love is endearing.  He wants what every person wants – that heart stopping, hard to breathe, can’t think about anybody else, deep down inside you just know he’s the one kind of love.  But does it exist?  For Julian, yes, and it comes in the form of Danny, his roommate.  An unfortunate moment, though, has Julian convinced that Danny doesn’t want him, so he tries to move on.  But how can one really move on from love?

Danny is your typical manly man, only he’s gay.  He’s a great character, though you sometimes have to read between the lines with him and his actions, but it’s great because it keeps you enthralled – wondering excitedly “Am I right, am I right!?”  I liked the way the two men would banter back and forth between each other, the tension building with every playful move.

I love the secondary characters as well, they add a lot of backbone to the story.  Both Julian’s friend Gabby and Julian’s mother are funny yet strong women, and you definitely find yourself falling for Andy and only wanting the best for him.

This is a wonderful story about love, loss, hope, hurt, and coming to understand what’s real and what’s a fantasy.  Julian has to realise that love isn’t always easy, and that sometimes he has to see past himself and try to understand what other’s are going through, that not everyone wears their heart on their shoulder like he does.

Even though there is no majorly dramatic suspense to the story, I still think that Ethan did an excellent job at keeping you intrigued and wanting to read more.  The story is more simple, but it’s the way it’s told that really counts.

One last note; at times I find flashbacks in a story difficult to hold my attention; to me a lot of the time it’s like “Yeah, okay, now get back to the story so I can find out what’s next”.  But the way Ethan take’s you through Julian’s cherished moments with Danny throughout the story definitely had me captivated, it’s like I forgot that I was even reading a flashback because I was so absorbed in the moment.  The only thing I wish is that there was a more distinct way of separating the past from the present.  When everything is written in the same format, and there’s no asterisk or something like that to separate the two, it can sometimes get confusing when the story goes from the present to the past and vice versa.

Overall, I think As You Are is a great book and I highly recommend it.  I liked it so much, and it was so hard to put down, that I ended up reading it within 24 hours – it would have been less than that, but hey, I’ve got to sleep at some point. 🙂

Enjoy!

November 5th, 2012

Thrown into another world where dangerous creatures live and rule, will Wesley stay and find love with a vampire, or will the terrors of an unknown realm have him running home?

On a camping trip in Louisiana, Wesley finds himself sucked down a hidden portal and thrown into another realm where he meets Remus, a warrior vampire.  With the help of Remus, Wesley embarks on an adventure to find his way home, back to a world not filled with vampires and dragons and magic folk.  Along his journey, the handsome vampire finds his way into Wesley’s heart.  But will his love for Remus overcome his fears of the creatures that reign in this world?

Remus has never wanted a man before, but finds himself drawn to Wesley despite his denying efforts.  He’s happy with his life as the commander of the vampires, and has had no interest in finding a mate.  But after Wesley is kidnapped, Remus discovers his feelings for the man are stronger than he thought.  Is he strong enough, though, to honor Wesley’s wish to return home, and let go of the man he loves?

***

Remus smiled at him.  “I have something for you.”  He took Wes’s hand and led him back to the bedroom.  Remus guided him over to the wardrobe, opened the left door, and positioned Wes to stand in front of the mirror that hung on the back of it.  “Close your eyes,” he said, a hint of excitement in his voice.

Wes smiled at Remus’s beaming reflection in the mirror, and then closed his eyes.  He heard the soft steps of Remus’s bare feet against the stone floor, then the opening and closing of what Wes assumed was one of the drawers to his desk.  His smiled widened when he felt his man behind him once again, loving the closeness.  He was slightly startled when he felt what he knew was a necklace being placed around his neck.  He had no idea what Remus was up to when the man told him to close his eyes, but he still would have never guessed this.

“Open your eyes,” Remus breathed against his ear, sending a shiver down Wes’s spine.

Wes gasped when he opened his eyes, and immediately felt the tears begin to gather once again.  Remus’s family mark, perfectly sculpted out of some sort of shiny black metal, hung on a silver chain around his neck.  Wes’s hand shook as he reached up and caressed the emblem.  He had it.  The one thing he never thought he’d possess, he did… Remus’s mark.  It may not be ingrained into his skin like Eveen’s, like it should be, but it was still his.

“It’s beautiful,” he whispered.

“So you like it?” Remus asked as he nuzzled along Wes’s neck.  Wes could only nod, his heart now lodged in his throat, making it hard to speak.  “I’m glad.  I had it specially made for you.”  Remus placed a light kiss on the crook of Wes’s neck, right where the bite marks rested.

Wes turned in Remus’s arms and kissed him.  Unable to form words, Wes put all of his love and happiness into it, hoping that the kiss would speak higher volumes than any words ever could.

The kiss went on for what felt like hours, so blissful and delighting.  Warm mouths coming together.  Tongues dancing as they deepened the kiss to a more intimate level.  Fingers tangling in each other’s hair.  Naked bodies pressed together, begging for more.  Remus’s hard length rubbing against his stomach had Wes groaning into the other man’s mouth.  Remus felt so amazing pressed up against him, so strong and powerful.  Wes shivered as his fingers traveled over the hard muscles of Remus’s body.
