book release, excerpt

I wanted to help out a friend and her fellow authors by posting up their new anthology, Coming Together: In Vein, to which all sales go to support a good cause.

Check it out. 🙂

Helping Vampires to Save the World

Let’s face it. Vampires are sexy. Something about the undead stirs up our juices. Perhaps it’s their irresistible power. Even when we know the danger, we’re so very tempted to surrender to their all-consuming lust. Maybe we want to comfort them, to save them a lonely, bloody eternity. Maybe we secretly crave immortality ourselves.

Vampires are frequently portrayed as evil or at least amoral, viewing humanity from the jaded perspective of centuries. Now, though, vampires are doing their part to save the world.

Coming Together In VeinComing Together: In Vein is a brand new collection of vampire-themed erotica and erotic romance edited by Lisabet Sarai. All sales of this novel-length volume support Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières). MSF works in nearly 70 countries providing medical aid to those most in need regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation. Right now, despite being barred from the country, MSF doctors and nurses are in Syria, working with patients from both sides of the civil war. They’re performing surgery in caves and sneaking into refugee camps to distribute desperately needed medications.

You can help MSF in its life-saving mission, simply by indulging your passion for vampires. Buy a copy of Coming Together: In Vein in ebook, Kindle format, or print. Enjoy! Then help spread the word! Every copy we sell has the potential to save someone’s life.

The list of contributors includes many names you’ll recognize. Every one of these authors has provided his or her work free of charge, to support the charitable aims of the project. Furthermore, the editor is giving away a free copy of her short story collection Body Electric  to everyone who buys a copy of Coming Together: In Vein. (This offer is good till January 31st, 2013. For details of this offer, click here.)

You’ll find an excerpt below – just to whet your appetite.

Sink your teeth into Coming Together: In Vein. Help our vampires save the world.

Excerpt (R)

From “Blood Taint” by Raziel Moore

As we stepped in, some of the tension left Neave’s body. It felt very much like we were being permitted into a private place. Normally, this would be her place of power, I thought. But I think we had her more off balance than she was used to.

“Can I offer you something?” Neave asked. Her host’s instinct obviously warred with others.

“Yes,” I said.

“Oh? Coffee? Wine? Um—”

“No, none of that.”

My arm was still around her shoulder. I turned her to face me and ran my free hand up her side. Daci stepped behind her and wound the fingers of one hand into Neave’s hair, the other stroking down her belly to her thigh. She pulled Neave’s head back, both to whisper in her ear and expose her neck to me.

“What would you offer us?” Daci asked. Neave shook all over. She met my eyes, terrified, wanting, all pretense of her as the huntress seeped away.

“Everything,” she whispered.

Something older and haunted lived in her now. Something I certainly hadn’t expected. But, oh, how it called to me. I lowered my mouth to her neck, my own pretenses teetering as Neave closed her eyes. I kissed her, wanting nothing more than to drink until I had devoured the whole of what she was.

“I want everything, Neave, but I won’t take it. Not like that.” The simple statement of self-denial made me boil. “We can’t consume something as sweet as you all at once. It would be so selfish. Short sighted.”

I was telling this to myself as well as Neave. My hand swept down her side, under the hem of her skirt, drawing back up against her skin and bunching the material above her hip. Daci did the same thing on her other side and, as my lips left Neave’s neck, we slipped the one-piece dress over her head. Neave unconsciously moved her arms to help us slide the garment from her.

“But we accept your offer.”

Daci and I pressed Neave between us, our hands roaming her body and each other’s. Neave moaned out loud, sensuously; it was a sound of surrender I’d heard many times, but none quite so delicious as hers.

We covered the distance between the entryway and the bed without noticing, shedding clothes as we went, never for a moment leaving Neave completely free of our hands or mouths. The white sheets were perfectly clean, but piled and unmade, as if Neave had just gotten up from them. We fell amongst them in a tangle of limbs and hunger, for Neave had come alive. Her hands reached for me, for Daci. Her lips met mine, then my partner’s. Between the wordless sounds of basic pleasure, with Daci and I sharing her breasts, my hand stealing down to the wet heat between her legs, Neave whispered once, and again…

“Yes.”

Everywhere on Neave’s body tasted different. Her lips still had lingering wine, her ear, the barest hint of jasmine perfume. A permanent air of paint and thinner adorned her fingers, and there my tongue found the exact spots she’d pricked to get the blood she mixed into her paints. That made me growl. Lower down, I tasted sweat, and soap, and Neave’s own musk. Her pleasure, the chemistry of it, the psychic broadcast of it, those were as much what I needed, what Daci and I consumed, as anything else.

Neave bucked into my mouth as I pressed it between her legs. Her taste flooded me while Daci’s kisses muffled the accompanying sounds. Minutes later, Daci and I had traded places and my mouth was back at Neave’s, while her hand wrapped around my cock. Blindly, she pulled my hips between her open legs, where Daci was fervently busy. Daci’s soft hair tickled my abdomen as she slid just to the side.

“Let me, dearest,” Daci’s voice came from below. She disengaged Neave’s hand from my cock and took it in her own grasp. Daci’s tongue swept between Neave’s body and mine, as she lined me up to Neave’s molten-hot slit. I took Neave’s hand in mine, guiding it up Daci’s body to the zenith between her legs, where Neave’s fingers began their own exploration of sparse curls and pink folds.

Daci’s head made way as I slowly sank into Neave. All of us groaned, even Daci, from the infectious aura of sex the three of us generated, as well as from Neave’s fingers. The very air throbbed, as if our three heartbeats had become synchronous and magnified. The pulse and rush of blood was a liquid undercurrent to each beat. It was almost time.

One of my hands held Neave’s, our fingers interlaced against the sheets above her head. With the other, I raised her chin. Turning her head, baring her neck to me. Neave shuddered and heaved under me, bucking toward my cock. I knew what Daci was doing as I felt her head turn against my thigh. Daci was pushing Neave’s leg to the sheets, so she could reach Neave’s femoral artery, Daci’s favorite spot. She was also probably trapping Neave’s other hand against her own slit, guiding our captive beauty to where she was most wanted, most needed.

“Oh, God!” Neave whispered. She sounded desperate, frightened, wanton. Thrusting deep into her felt so, so good. I raised my head, inhaling deep, fangs fully bared. Neave’s wide eyes slid to my face, stared, then closed. Her entire body, taut and twisting under us, just seemed to melt. Oh, surrender, the sweetest taste of all.
