Finding Home – A Christmas Story
Finding Home is the name of my new m/m vampire series, but it also reminds me of a holiday memory from a few years back. It was three days before Christmas, and my sister and I were on our way out for the evening, when we came across a very happy – and very lost – dog outside our apartment building. He was cute as ever, tromping excitedly around in the snow, slobbering all over our hands as we pet him. Being the animal lovers that we were, my sister and I couldn’t in well conscience leave the poor thing out in the cold.
Dinner now forgotten, we drove around our neighborhood hoping that the dog lived nearby, that maybe we might find the owner walking around asking if anyone’s seen his dog. After stopping at houses and asking people that were walking along – and with only one more block to go – our hopes of finding the owner were dwindling fast. As we waited at a stop sign for traffic to clear, a van turned down the street we’re on and suddenly slams on his brakes – which, of course, grabbed our attention. The driver rolled his window down then points to our back seat and hollers, “That’s my dog!”
I was at first a little nervous that maybe he wasn’t really the owner, but then I thought to myself, ‘seriously, who would do something like that just to try and steal a dog – 99% of the time if a person has a dog in their car it means that it belongs to them‘. Though my worries were quickly lifted away when the man and dog came together. Now, the dog was happy and bouncy with us to begin with, but when it came to his owner he was absolutely ecstatic. It felt good reuniting man with his best friend.
Now, on to my book and giveaway.
I hope you enjoy the following excerpt!
Book Blurb
Thrown into another world where dangerous creatures live and rule, will Wesley stay and find love with a vampire, or will the terrors of an unknown realm have him running home?
On a camping trip in Louisiana, Wesley finds himself sucked down a hidden portal and thrown into another realm where he meets Remus, a warrior vampire. With the help of Remus, Wesley embarks on an adventure to find his way home, back to a world not filled with vampires and dragons and magic folk. Along his journey, the handsome vampire finds his way into Wesley’s heart. But will his love for Remus overcome his fears of the creatures that reign in this world?
Remus has never wanted a man before, but finds himself drawn to Wesley despite his denying efforts. He’s happy with his life as the Commander of the vampires, and has had no interest in finding a mate. But after Wesley is kidnapped, Remus discovers his feelings for the man are stronger than he thought. Is he strong enough, though, to honour Wesley’s wish to return home, and let go of the man he loves?
Excerpt (From Wes’ POV)
After getting dressed, he figured he’d go find Remus. There was no point in ignoring him. They were going to have to face each other and deal with last night at some point.
After a couple of minutes wandering the halls—which all look the friggin’ same—he finally ran into someone. Wes felt a little skittish at first, not knowing how the man would act—last night’s events flashing through his mind. But he smiled at Wes, and gave a small bow of his head as he approached.
That’s strange. No one’s ever bowed to me before.
“Excuse me, would you happen to know where I could find Remus?”
“Yes, sir, he’s in the training room.”
Sir?
“Okay. Can you tell me how to get there?”
The man’s smile widened. “I’ll show you. Please, follow me.”
Well, this was a complete turnaround from last night. Wes couldn’t tell for sure if this man was one of his attackers—all he knew was that there had been a horde of them.
After many twists and turns and a few sets of staircases, they came to a hall that echoed with a strange noise. The sound of metal striking metal got louder as they neared a doorway. Two men passed them in the hall and each inclined their heads to him.
What the heck is going on?
Wes was led through the doorway, and immediately stopped at the sight. Dozens of men were spread throughout the room in different stages of fighting. Wes’ guide pointed to Remus, who stood in the middle of the room, duelling with Aliam.
All of the air rushed from Wes’ lungs as he stood there with his mouth hanging wide open.
Holy hell, the man’s hot!
Neither Remus nor Aliam were wearing shirts. Their bodies were slick with sweat as they fought each other. There was no doubt Aliam had an amazing body—Eveen was a very lucky woman—but Wes couldn’t keep his eyes off Remus.
His arms bulged and his pecs flexed with every swing of his sword. His washboard stomach tightened with every lunge. He was graceful and magnificent. Swift and powerful. And downright yummy—his body was absolutely delectable. Any other day, Wes would have recoiled at the sight of his sweating, but now he wanted to rub himself all over the man. Absorb his scent—musk and a little something else that was just Remus.
Wes’ dick stirred in his pants. He wanted to take Remus’ hand in his and guide it to where Wes ached for him the most. He wanted Remus to push him against the nearest wall, tear his pants away, and bury himself deep inside him. He wanted to feel Remus pounding against his thighs as he thrust into him.
He snapped his mouth shut when another man passed by and—like the others—he inclined his head as he went.
“Is there anything else I can do for you?”
Wes jumped—he had completely forgotten about his guide. “Oh, no, thank you.”
